Angels & Airwaves: Review

Angels & Airwaves is the latest musical endeavor by Blink182’s ex-lead singer, Tom Delonge. This is a review of their debut album, We Don’t Need To Whisper.

Music & Vocals

The music and vocals are absolutely excellent, albeit somewhat produced. I suppose a music purist might be disenchanted by this but it works for me. In most of the songs Tom’s trademark vocals have some sort of effect applied to them. This isn’t a bad thing, I really don’t care how much the music or vocals are “messed-around-with,” they sound GREAT and do a wonderful job of creating an ethereal feeling.

I would like to say that I especially enjoyed the drums on this album. I can’t say why exactly, but they were excellent.

Lyrics

A couple minor cuss words but nothing to worry about. The lyrics are PG. That said, the lyrics don’t just come along for the ride as with most pop music. I actually felt inspired by these lyrics. They were comforting, encouraging, spurring me on to action. I dare say that they had a certain spiritual sentiment to them. If these lyrics are an accurate reflection of what’s going on in Tom’s head then I would wager that something meaningful is stirring in his heart.

Conclusion

There’s not a whole lot (if any) of negatives about this album. If you enjoy Mae and Blink182 then chances are you’ll love Angels & Airwaves. They come highly recommended by me.
