Two Ways iTunes Can Improve

iTunesIn general, Apple hits the mark every time with its products. But as great as iTunes is I think there are two things that Apple can do to improve this golden application. First, Apple needs to port iTunes for Linux. They don’t need to port it so Linux users can mount their iPods (Linux users have half a dozen apps that can do that), they need to port it so Linux users can give Apple their money at the iTunes store. Second (possibly a replacement for the first) is to make iTunes a web app. Actually, this may be the better option because then anyone on any OS can purchase music from iTunes.

The point is, that we on Linux (or anything other than Windows and Mac) are pretty much SOL when it comes to purchasing movies and music from iTunes. This doesn’t hurt us so much as there are many other music and movie outlets that we can use besides iTunes. But Apple is missing a growing demographic of users who choose to run Linux on their desktops.

P.S. – If anyone knows how I can access the iTunes store on my Linux PC please let me know, and I’ll edit this post and give you credit for the info.
